World Cup fields to be upgraded

first_imgSports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko said this is so participating countries can use these sporting fields to train and play on in preparation for the World Cup.“The government has budgeted K10 million for the preparation of the FIFA World Cup. All venues at the Sir Hubert Murray stadium, the Sir John Guise stadium, the Bisini Grounds plus schools will be upgraded to FIFA standards,” said Tkatchenko. He added the money allocated for the World Cup will be pushed through quickly for work to continue. He said the plan is to have all venues and training facilities ready three months before the World Cup event in November.“FIFA levels are at the highest standard possible and so the K10 million the Government is putting in is a long investment that will put our sporting fields up to this same standard.“This will allow us to host more sporting events in the future,” said Tkatchenko.last_img
