A four-year-old girl is ‘fighting for her life’ after she and her brother were struck by a vehicle in Hagersville on Saturday afternoon.The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. when a vehicle parked on Main Street went into reverse and accelerated across the roadway. It hit another vehicle before mounting the curb and striking the two children, who were on the sidewalk with other family members.Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said the girl was pinned under the vehicle and dragged a short distance. The vehicle stopped when it collided with a building.The children’s parents rushed them to an area hospital. The girl suffered life-threatening injuries and was transferred to a Hamilton hospital.“The girl is fighting for her life,” said Sanchuk in a social media post. “I’m just lost for words.”The 13-year-old boy’s injuries are described as serious.“Right now my thoughts are with this family. I don’t know what to say,” said Sanchuk.The driver of the vehicle involved is an 80-year-old Norfolk County woman. She was transported to local hospital but did not suffer any physical injuries, said police.Main Street between Parkview Drive and King Street was closed for several hours for the investigation.
