New Delhi: A 16-year-old boy drowned in Yamuna river near Kalindi Kunj in South East Delhi while he was taking a bath, police said on Sunday.The law enforcement agency found that two other boys were safely rescued by locals. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said that an information from PCR was received at 2.27 PM hrs in Shaheen Bagh police station that one of two boys has drowned in Yamuna river near Thokar no 8 in Kalindi Kunj while taking bath. Also Read – After eight years, businessman arrested for kidnap & murderThe city police reached the spot and found that one boy aged around 16 resident of Shaheen Bagh drowned and his body has been fished out with the help of NDRF rescue team called on the spot. The body has been kept in the hospital. “Inquest proceedings u/s 174 CrPC have been initiated and two other boys namely Sameer age 17 yrs and Usman age 16 yrs, who also drown, were rescued by locals,” said DCP South East. This incident was not the first case, in 2018 two youths died after they were drowned in Yamuna river in North Delhi’s Timarpur. In another case, three teenagers drowned in the Yamuna river in Wazirabad area. In another incident, two brothers aged 14 and 16 died due to drowning in outer Delhi’s Alipur area. They had gone there for a picnic with their family members when one of the boys slipped in the river.
