Days after Mail Today reported about the shameful ‘leaking roof’ during the 34th Delhi State Shooting Championship 2018, another shocking news coming from the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range. This time Jaspal Rana, chief coach of the junior national pistol team, has alleged that the coach’s room at the 25m range, which is used by the coaches of the National Squad (NSQ) for the past six years, has been ‘summarily’ sealed.Rana has written a letter, a copy of which is with Mail Today, to Sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and SAI (Sports Authority of India) DG Neelam Kapoor, questioning the move.”While state governments, public sector undertakings and media await the return of the shooters and supporting coaches; there has been a development at the Dr KSSR which is shameful to say the least.”I am shocked to report that the coach’s room that is a single room at the 25m range in Dr KSSR, which since the past six years is being used by the coaches of the National Squad (NSQ) to plan, manage & support in the national camps & training, the shooters representing country as well as used to provide equipment testing/ gunsmith work benches, has been summarily sealed under the directions of the Administrator, Dr KSSR,” it said.”All the equipment including computer, printer, gunsmith tools, drill, inventory ledgers, consumables as well as kettle, refrigerator and hot plate have all been sealed within the room and the coach’s denied access to the same. Only upon submitting written request to access on 24.08.2018, the coach’s were permitted to remove under watch of the guards, the weapon grips urgently needed that were owned by the NRAI.advertisement”The reason or rationale behind the unprecedented, unprovoked and arbitrary action of sealing of room and preventing access to equipment by the administrator, Dr KSSR is unknown. It is requested, that instructions may be issued to de-seal the concerned room and to permit the coaches to help and assist the national squad shooters by conducting repair and service of the equipment/ weapons from the room,” it added. However, a SAI official rubbished Rana’s claims. “It is not true. The VIP lounge has been made for all coaches to relax and have refreshment,” he told Mail Today on condition of anonymity.
