Gaeltacht theatre to get €20,000 grant for equipment

first_imgMinister Joe McHugh has announced that a Gaeltacht theatre is getting €20,000 in grants. The Amharclann in Gaoth Dobhair was officially re-opened by Minister McHugh three months ago after a half a million euro investment from the Department of the Gaeltacht approved by the Donegal TD.A new café and entrance is now drawing both locals and tourists to the theatre. “The committee which had the vision to bring this wonderful theatre back to life desperately needed new staging equipment,” said Minister McHugh.“It was was wonderful to see the theatre open and being used by the local community but it was clear new stage lights, sound equipment and other items were needed to allow all those who perform at the Amharclann to give their best.“Currently a lot of equipment has to be hired in for shows and this funding will now save that expense going forward.“I am delighted my Cabinet colleague, Minister for Culture and Arts Heather Humphreys, has sanctioned the maximum €20,000 to the Amharclann, as part of an overall investment of €28,000 at the theatre. “The funding is being awarded under Stream 3 of the Arts & Culture Capital scheme which is targeted at small arts voluntary organisations.”Minister McHugh added: “I expect a second round of funding from this Stream will be announced in a few weeks’ time.“Under this Government, Minister Humphreys is investing heavily in the arts in County Donegal as witnessed by large funding announcements to culture and arts projects in Letterkenny (An Grianan and County Museum), Ballyshannon (The Abbey) and Lifford (Old Courthouse) earlier this year when €450,000 was allocated.“I want to wish everyone at the Amharclann in Gaoth Dobhair continued success in the future.”Failtíonn an tAire McHugh roimh deontas de €20,000 do hAmharclann Ghaoth Dobhair · Deontas ann do threalamh stáitse don amharclannTá fograithe ag an Aire Joe McHugh go bhfuil deontas de €20,000 ceadaithe do hAmharclann sa GhaeltachtAth-osclaíodh Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair trí mhí ó shin ag an Aire Joe McHugh i ndiaidh deontas de leath million a cheadú don amharclann ag Roinn na Galetachta.Tá an caifé úr agus an slí isteach ag mealladh muintir na háite agus turasóirí isteach san amharclann. “Bhí trealamh stáitse de dhíth ag an coiste a raibh an fís acu an amharclann speisialta seo a ath-oscailt,” a deir an tAire McHugh.“Rud iontach í an amharclann a fheiceáil oscailte agus úsáid a bhaint aistí ag muintir na háite, ach bhí sé soiléir go raibh soilse stáitse, trealamh fuaime agus trealamh eile de dhíth chun cuidiú le hobair na hAmharclainne.“Tá lúchair orm gur cheadaigh an tAire Cultúr agus Ealaíon Heather Humphreys TD an deontas iomlan de €20,000 don Amharclann, mar chuid den infheistíocht iomlan de €28,000 ag an Amharclann.“Tá an maoiniú seo ar fáil mar chuid de “Stream 3” den Scéim Caipitil Ealaíon agus Cultúr do ghrúpaí beaga deonacha.“Tá mé ag súil go mbeidh babhta eile de maoiniú fograithe I gceann roinnt seachtaine” dar le McHugh.“Faoi Rialtas seo, tá infheistíocht laidir déanta ag an Aire Humphreys san Ealaíon i gContae Dhún na nGall, le maoiniú curtha ar fáil do thógraí cultúr agus tógraí ealaíne i Leitir Ceanainn (An Grianán agus an Iarsmalann Contae), Béal Átha Seanaidh (The Abbey) and Leifearr (Old Courthouse) níos luaithe i mbliana.“Guím gach rath ar choiste na hAmharclainne as seo amach.”Gaeltacht theatre to get €20,000 grant for equipment was last modified: August 3rd, 2017 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:AmharclanndonegalJoe McHughlast_img
