AC by Marriott could break ground in late 2018

first_imgThe AC by Marriott hotel could break ground in the fourth quarter of next year, adding yet another project along the Columbia River waterfront.“We’re working really hard to perfect the hotel,” said developer Rick Takach, whose company, Vesta Hospitality, also owns Homewood Suites on Columbia Shores Boulevard.A preapplication document was filed with the city of Vancouver this week. The four-sentence project description said the hotel could have nine floors, with 160 rooms and parking spaces.Takach said the final design and timeline depend on a number of factors, including the cost of labor.“We’ll probably make some modifications after the preapplication meeting also but it’s really being driven by efficiencies in construction,” he said.Construction costs are rising, which will influence the final size and design.T1 Hotel, Takach’s company that will own the hotel, still has to sign a chief architect and a prime contractor. In August, T1 Hotel signed a 50-year lease, with two 15-year options, with the Port of Vancouver, which owns the property. “I’m going to have a hotel here for 80 years, so I want something that’s going to weather the test of time,” said Takach.last_img read more
