In the previous three years, the crew have proven their skills on an international level in many deployments, EUNAVFOR MED being the most recent one. I am glad to have been able to always return, both the ship and the crew, home uninjured.”His successor, Frigate Captain Sven Hikele previously served as the Chief Officer of another Berlin-class combat support ship, the EGV Frankfurt am Main.Berlin’s latest deployment was the EUNAVFOR MED Operation Sophia in the Mediterranean from which the ship returned February 2, 2016.During her latest deployment, EGV Berlin carried out a total of 37 replenishment at sea maneuvers, thereby supporting ships from Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Belgium and France. A novelty was a RAS with the German minehunter Weilheim, as replenishment oilers only supply ships.
