Football Set For A Trip To Butler On Saturday

first_imgThe Drake University football team makes its last road trip of the 2015 season on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Butler.In the clash of the Bulldogs, both teams are sitting at 3-3 in the PFL standings. Drake had last week off and dropped a tough triple-overtime game at Morehead State, 38-35, in its last time out on Oct. 31. Butler snapped a two-game losing streak last week by beating in-state rivals Valpo, 42-21.Drake leads the all-time series 16-7-1 over Butler and are even 6-6-1 at the Butler Bowl. Drake has won four of the last five meetings, but have lost three of the last four meetings in Indianapolis.Drake’s defense continues to lead the squad as the team ranks first in PFL games in rushing defense by allowing 77.7 yards per game, while limiting teams to 313.7 yards of total offense.John Hugunin leads Drake’s defense with 92 tackles, ranking third in the PFL and has made 13.5 tackles for a loss, ranking second in the league. The fifth-year senior linebacker leads the country with nine forced fumbles and ranks 12 with two fumble recoveries. Junior defensive endMack Marrin is one of the best pass rushers in the conference as he ranks fifth in the league with 5.5 sacks to go with 8.5 tackles for a loss.Drake’s offense is led by junior running back Conley Wilkins who has scored 54 of Drake’s 214 points this season and rushed for 694 yards, the second-most in PFL.Butler has one of the top offenses in the PFL, ranking second in scoring (29.2), fourth in total offense (400.8), rushing (151.9) and passing (248.9). Butler is led by quarterback Matt Shiltz, who has thrown for 2098 yards with 15 touchdowns and is BU’s leading rusher with 546 yards with 10 touchdowns.
